We are currently searching for a Vice President of Operations for our corporate offices in West Liberty, Iowa.

Job Summary: 

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for developing a long term operational plan by working collaboratively with cross functional departments.  This position will builds, fosters and create vendor and supplier relationships to further advance innovative solutions. Is a strong advocate of continuous improvement principles.  Sets clear objectives and targets for the team and holds them accountable in achieving these goals through successful mentoring/coaching. Demonstrates a high level of business and financial acumen in managing budget and capital projects.   Provides exceptional guidance to the team by consistently modeling leadership excellence.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively develop and formulate short and long term planning, policies, programs and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain superior Vendor and Supplier relationships to the extent they are an extension of the operating unit.
  • Recommend solutions to improve the company's competitive and profitable position.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing operational business plans to leverage the ideal costing and capacity utilization.
  • Ensure all established safety, quality, cost, efficiency and delivery commitments are met.
  • Determine and execute improved solutions by suppliers, competitors and customers.
  • Research and recommend cutting edge facility and equipment technology to enhance productivity, yield, food and team member safety.
  • Coach and support Direct Reports to hire and develop high performing leaders.

 

Job Requirements

  • Effective leader who is committed to professional development.

  • Coordinates manufacturing activities across multiple facilities.
  • Committed and proven leader in continuous improvement and change management strategies.

  • Ability to identify systematic improvements and provide solutions.
  • Experienced in project management principles.
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience is preferred in a plant manager or like role with progressive work history.
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Meat Science certification or education is preferred.
  • Results driven leader - uses metrics and indicators to drive business decisions.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience managing a diverse team of developers, system administrators, security, etc.
  • Must be able to travel between facilities.
  • Previous experience in a commodity manufacturing organization.
  • Computer experience - Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop others.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment of continuous change and challenges.
  • Coaching and performance management experience a plus.
  • Candidates must successfully pass post-offer/pre-employment drug test and background screen.
